In this tank filling simulation, an initially empty tank is filled with fuel. The simulation, here computed using the Lagrange method, starts with the flow in the tank neck. The liquid forms a free surface which speed dominates the time step size of the simulation. Since the time step size becomes small at very high speeds, the computation times can be relatively long.

NOGRID points is perfect for designing and solving problems involving free surface flows, allowing the prediction of flow patterns, thermal homogenization or foam formation. Use NOGRID points, visualize mass, velocity distribution and heat transfer for simple and multiphase flows in the tank and learn to understand the flow. You get integral variables that you can use to analyze the efficiency of filling processes. In addition, you can easily create animations of particle trajectories.

Nogrid's strengths

NOGRID's particular strengths are the rapid preprocessing (no fluid grid needs to be generated, only the boundary mesh, inner finite points are generated automatically depending on User setting initially and during computation) and the outstandingly short computation time even for complicated cavities.
As you can see in the image below, the boundary of the geometry still requires a mesh to allow the interior finite points to detect the boundary. The boundary must therefore be meshed and the finite points inside are automatically generated during the simulation controlled by User specifications.
